May this year is the 110th anniversary of Mr. Ma Sicong's birth and the 35th anniversary of his death. In order to commemorate the master who devoted his life to music and vigorously spread Mr. Ma's musical works and musical ideas, the event will be held on June 11 this year in Philadelphia. To hold a "Ma Sicong's 110th Birthday Anniversary Concert" to express our memory and respect for Mr. Ma, to comfort his spirit in the sky, to make more people understand and love his works, and to give more than two years of experience to the epidemic. Depressed friends, dedicate a musical feast!
The concert will be hosted by Time Art Salon. The concert will cover Mr. Ma Sicong's representative instrumental and vocal works from various periods. These carefully selected repertoires will lead you to relive the immortal works of a generation of music masters. Professor Yazhi Guo and his wife, Erhu player He Tao, will perform Rondo (1937) and Rondo No. 2 (1950) respectively in this concert.
Suona :Yazhi Guo Piano:Zhenping Wang
Yazhi Guo, a famous Chinese wind musician and musical instrument reformer. In 1990, he graduated from the Department of Traditional Chinese Music of the Central Conservatory of Music and stayed there to teach; in 1999, he became the Principal Suona of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra(HKCO). In 2013, he won the Hong Kong Artist of the Year Award, and in 2015, he received the artist diploma from Berklee College of Music. In April 2021, he appeared on the cover of China's "People's Music" magazine. Yazhi Guo has been active in the international music stage for many years, and is committed to integrating Chinese music with world music. In December 2021, Yazhi Guo and friends co-founded the "American Academy of World Music "(AAWM) in Boston and served as the first dean.
Erhu:He Tao Piano:Zhenping Wang
He Tao, originally from Shanghai, studied erhu with his father since childhood. He graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music in 1992 and was admitted to the China Radio National Orchestra in the same year. In 1999, he went to Singapore and signed a contract with Expect Music to expand the art of erhu pop music and became a fashion magazine character. He was admitted to the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra(HKCO) in 2002 and moved to Boston, USA with his family in 2012. In 2014, she premiered the work "San Mao Wandering" written by the famous Chinese composer Ms. Huang Qiong for erhu and percussion, and recorded it on CD. In 2015, he performed "The Great Wall Capriccio" with the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra. In 2017, he played the erhu solo in the opera "The Legend of the White Snake" composed by the famous Chinese composer Mr. Zhou Long.
